Quarantine/ homestay has been an unpleasant reality of our lives. It is important to use this time
wisely instead of wasting it away. Time is one thing that once spent, can never be earned back.
But we can rather invest it in productive ways. 

We students can do these things when we are stuck in lockdown.

1. Learn to cook

Cooking is a basic skill now. Students face this type of problem when they are migrating
from their home to somewhere (like for further studies or for a job). Because the majority of us don’t
know how to cook. Knowing how to cook helps us to save some future expenditures, keeps
us healthy, and makes us less homesick too. And to start cooking, we can do it from our
favourite foods.

2. Study

This is the bonus time for us to search more about the topics we didn’t understand during our
lectures. Also, we can consult with our seniors about what books can be referred to for those topics.
Apart from the course, we can also study various kinds of literature as well.

3. Learn a new language

If we are planning to go to foreign countries for further studies, then learning the language of that
place is a good idea. If we already know the language of the place where we are going, it will
make it easier and faster to make new friends or relationships.

4. Learn a new skill

Students can take this time to learn new skills which can be: learning codes, photo or video
editing, article writing, digital painting, craft making.

5. Spend quality time with family

This is a good opportunity to spend 24/7 of our time with our parents and siblings. We can make
good moments with our family members by playing indoor games too. Carom, ludo, chess,
cards, badminton can be played. We can divide our family members as team partners and
opponents to play carom. Watching the news and good movies together is also a way to spend
quality time with family.

6. Yoga and exercise

We should keep ourselves as fit as possible. We can do 30 mins to 1 hour of yoga and exercise in the
morning every day. Online videos of yoga are easily available, thus we can practice on our own at
home. Exercise helps us to reduce stress, improve sleep, feel relaxed and less lonely, and improve our
overall health and make us feel better emotionally and also motivates us to exercise regularly.

7. Listen to music and practice dance

To enjoy ourselves, we can make a playlist of songs we like the most and roll them one by one.
We can forget the stress by listening to music and the addition of dance with music makes us fit too.

8. Clean the entire house

Since all the family members are at home this time, we can divide into different rooms (kitchen,
dining room, bedroom, TV room, garden ) to each family member to clean. This helps to clean
the entire house in a short time. We can rearrange things and add some decoration materials.
This will also increase the coordination between family members.

9. Take the time to connect again

It’s time to keep in touch with the friends of our previous school or college because we
couldn’t talk to them on a daily basis in previous days. You can call them and recall those
moments. Also, we can connect with our relatives who are in foreign countries.

10. Clean your wardrobe and bookcase

We can wash clothes which are to be washed. Those clothes which aren’t fit for us can be
kept for donation and few can be reused to make kitchen utensil holders as well. Similarly, we
can take all the books and other stationery items from the bookcase, wipe down the dust, and
then put those books back in a managed way.

11. Update our to-do-list

We’ve probably added more or fewer things to our to-do-list in the past but never got time to do it.
Thus, completing our to-do-list can be a productive thing in this quarantine.
